Fighting in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is primarily about breaking the so-called "relationship." This is a kind of "shield", the breakthrough of which allows you to attack the lifeline. Each opponent, like our hero, has an attitude mentioned during the battle. To win the battle, we have to reduce it, which consists of flooding the enemy with subsequent strikes until he is unable to withstand the attacks. Then the base is destroyed, and we can deliver the finishing blow - for weaker opponents, it usually turns out to be fatal. Enemies with a longer life span (or multiple lives) can survive, and then we will have to break their base again and deal the final blow again. The process is repeated until it is completely removed from the opponent's desire to live.
In Sekiro, you get rid of the fatigue belt so that we can strike without interruption. This does not mean, however, that fighting consists of constantly pressing the attack button - this method only works with the weakest enemies. Those who are stronger can repel or resist our attacks and break the foundation of our ninja. This is the worst thing that can happen - running in Shinobi rags is not protected by any armor, so usually 2-3 blows or even one more strong one, and we are greeted by the famous inscription of death.
TWO LIVES: According to the game's subtitle, the Wolf has two lives. In Sekiro, once we die, we can (but don't have to) return to fight in the same place with a half-life belt. The second death means final death and moving us to the nearest checkpoint (in this role, corresponding to the statue's focal points). However, then we lose a significant amount of gold and experience, so sometimes it's better to consider whether to accept the death of a character and avoid the burden.
The key to avoiding such situations is the mastery of blocks and counterattacks. Most of the strikes can be blocked with our sword (over time, we can even install an umbrella-type shield - but with limited use), but more powerful attacks will break the pose sooner or later. Much more effective is a skillful combination of blows delivered by the enemy, which allows us to knock him out of the rhythm and thus conduct a hellishly effective counterattack.
