HELP FOR THE FLOOD VICTIMS FROM PIECHOWICE (2006) | ||||
On Aug 7, 2006 a big catastrophe happened in Piechowice - the Kamienna River flooded this small town in the Karkonosze Mountains. The county survived 2 flood attacks due to heavy rains in the Kamienna basic near Jakuszyce, the water level increased to 150 cm and exceeded the alarm level. After 23.00 hrs the water level rose to 4 meters.
The loss increased total county budget for 3 years: tens of kilometers of roads were damaged, waterworks and drinking water intake, 5 bridges and 3 footbridges were ruined and, the municipal buildings were damaged – 2 preschools, a junior high school and public housing and private houses. |
